Description (English)

Vintage Italian Art Deco Style Pearlescent Lucite & Silver-Plated Shell Dish / Bowl by Lamberto, 1970s–1980s

Interior trinket dish / bowl / soap dish "Scallop Shell" in Art Deco style.

Origin: Italy, 1970s–1980s (Vintage). Marked Italian vintage design.

Dimensions: Height 12.5 cm, width 13.5 cm.

Very Good Vintage Condition.

The Lucite base is free of chips or cracks, retaining its perfect glossy finish. The silver-plated element features a noble patina and minor signs of time, authenticating the item's age.

Detailed Features & Materials:

  • Era & Style: Second half of the 20th century (approx. 1970s–1980s), crafted as a mid-century reinterpretation of the classic 1930s Art Deco style.
  • Country of Origin: Italy (with deep distribution roots in Swiss and German markets).
  • Base Material: Made of high-quality handcrafted Lucite (acrylic resin) with an artistic pearlescent effect. The material is semi-transparent, embedded with microscopic particles (mica or natural mother-of-pearl powder) arranged unevenly in layers to create stunning optical depth. The Lucite maintains a glass-like clarity and catches the sunlight beautifully, mimicking a natural seashell.
  • Durability: The material is moisture-resistant, fade-resistant, and highly prized by collectors for its Mid-Century Modern polymer aesthetics.
  • Decorative Element: Silver-plated metal (Ag). High-quality electroplated silver over a polished base alloy.

Brand & Attribution:

  • Brand / Master: Lamberto (Italy), featuring the artisan monogram "HG".
  • Hallmarks: The hallmark belongs to the renowned Italian silverware manufacturer Lamberto (associated with designer Lamberto Moroni or the Lamberto Argenti brand). The abbreviation "AG" serves as both the international jewelry designation for silver (Argentum) and the trademark status registered for the European (primarily German-speaking: Germany, Austria, Switzerland) market.
  • Monogram: The "HG" monogram is the individual hallmark of the master designer or the specific Italian silversmith atelier that created the Art Deco mold commissioned by the Lamberto brand.
  • Historical Context: In the second half of the 20th century, Italy (particularly the Tuscany and Lombardy regions) was the absolute global leader in producing luxury silverware items (Argenteria), masterfully combining premium polymers (acrylic, Lucite) with precious metal accents.
