Rare 1960 GDR Philatelic Commemorative Folder — Sachsenhausen Memorial

An official 1961/1960 publication by the GDR Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications. This commemorative folder (Gedenkmappe) marks the opening of the National Memorial at the former Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

Key features:

Stamps: Full 1960 series "Construction of National Memorials," featuring the memorial obelisk and 8 portrait stamps of famous anti-fascist resistance fighters (e.g., E. Schneller, L. Erdmann)

Cancellation: Official First Day Special Postmark (Sonderstempel) dated September 8, 1960.

Content: Historical overview of the camp and a quote by Walter Ulbricht.

Condition: Stamps are in excellent condition, mounted on cardstock. The folder shows natural aging (patina) and minor foxing/corner wear typical for a 60-year-old document.
