Description (English)

A 5-kopek banknote of the 1915 design, issued in the Russian Empire during World War I.

Historical Context: These paper tokens (known as "stamp-money") were introduced due to a severe shortage of small change.

Issuer: The Russian Empire (reign of Nicholas II).

Obverse: Features the coat of arms of the Russian Empire (double-headed eagle) and the denomination "5 kop.".

Reverse: Contains the inscription "Circulates on par with copper coinage," confirming its status as legal tender.

Wear, small spots, and fold marks are visible. This is an original treasury note, not a postage stamp (though the design is similar to the Romanov Tercentenary commemorative stamps).
