Description (English)

Collectible silk fabric wall calendar "Riga 1981". RARE find in original factory packaging! LUXE condition.

·        An original Soviet souvenir calendar for the year 1981, manufactured by the famous Latvian textile enterprise "Rīgas audums".

·        This is a classic example of Latvian applied art and industrial design from the early 1980s.

·        Souvenir wall calendar for 1981 featuring a panoramic view of Old Riga.

·        Manufacturer: Silk production association "Rīgas audums" (Latvian SSR). The name of the enterprise is woven/printed on the ribbon at the bottom of the composition.

·        Design & Layout: Calendar grids for all 12 months (in Latvian) are located in the upper and central parts.

·        The bottom part features a graphic panoramic illustration of Old Riga with its recognizable tower silhouettes (Riga Cathedral, St. Peter's Church, etc.).

·        The composition is framed with an elegant floral and botanical ornament in the Baroque/Art Nouveau style, mimicking an antique engraving.

·        Language: Latvian (days of the week: P, O, T, C, P, S, S). Weekends and holidays are highlighted in a contrasting red color.

·        Size: 72 $times$ 32 cm.

·        Material & Quality: The item is made of artificial silk (acetate or viscose silk), which was the signature trademark of the "Rīgas audums" factory.

·        It features roller printing (screen printing) in deep brown (chocolate) and bright red colors on a rich golden-yellow background. The fabric has a characteristic elegant sheen.

·        The edges are neatly finished, and a mounting system (or wooden hanging dowels/slats) is provided at the top for wall display.

·        Condition: Excellent collectible condition (warehouse storage / NOS — New Old Stock). The original cellophane packaging (tube) has been preserved; the fabric shows no fading or stains.
