Description (English)

Famous "Kerenka" with a face value of 20 rubles, 1917 model.

These treasury notes were issued by the Russian Provisional Government (and later by the Bolsheviks) during an acute cash shortage.

The banknote's condition can be rated as Fine (F) or Very Fine (VF-) on the international scale.

The paper has maintained its integrity; there are no major tears or missing fragments. The printing is clear.

There is noticeable yellowing of the paper (age patina), heavy vertical and horizontal folds, frayed edges, and minor soiling.

Features: This is a part of a cut sheet. Kerenkas were often printed in large sheets and lacked serial numbers, so they were frequently cut by hand, which explains the uneven edges.

Treasury note.

The design is based on a consular post stamp. The obverse features a double-headed eagle without a crown (the emblem of the Provisional Government).
