Description (English)

Souvenir Postcard Set: Tallinn

A souvenir postcard set featuring views of Tallinn, published during the Soviet era.

A set of 16 postcards in a folder-cover.

Publisher: "Eesti Raamat," Tallinn.

Year of Publication: 1978 — a period of active preparation in Tallinn for the Olympic Sailing Regatta of 1980.

Text and captions for the postcards are provided in three languages: Estonian, Russian, and English.

The set includes panoramic and detailed views of the city, including Old Tallinn (town hall, towers), the port, and then-new districts like Mustamäe.

Printing: The "Eesti Raamat" publishing house was renowned for high-quality printing (offset printing, circulation of 140,000).

This set is a classic example of 1970s tourist printing with characteristic color reproduction and typography.

The set is in mint condition (all 16 postcards are present, without creases or stains, and include the original information leaflet).

Includes the original correction insert for postcard No. 15 ("Memoriaalansambel Maarjamäe").

Purpose: It contains text in Estonian: "Palume lugeda ümbrisel nr. 15 'Memoriaalansambel Maarjamäe'".

This is a direct instruction for the owner to correct or clarify the title of the 15th postcard in the list on the cover.

This slip was inserted by the printing house directly into the folder-cover along with all 16 postcards before sale.
