Description (English)

Rare Art Postcard "Lietus" (Rain) by Aleksandrs Apsītis — 1920s/30s Latvia

Original Latvian postcard from the interwar period (1920s–1930s, the era of the First Latvian Republic). This piece holds significant artistic and collectible value.

Artist: The renowned Latvian graphic artist Aleksandrs Apsītis. His signature "A. Apsits" is clearly visible in the lower-left corner of the front side.

Subject: Titled "Lietus" (Rain), the artwork is executed in a signature romantic style: a girl’s delicate face seen through a veil of rain and flowers.

Publisher: Printed in Riga at the Ernst Plates printing house, one of the largest publishers of that era.

Technique: Part of the high-quality "Fotobrom" printing series, confirmed by the corresponding stamp on the reverse side.

Authenticity: The inscription "ATKLĀTNE" and the absence of Soviet or Imperial symbols confirm its origin from the 1920s–1930s period.
