A facsimile (exact reproduction of the original) edition of the "Small Book" by Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, published in 1984.
Historical Context: The original "Small Book" is a handwritten collection of Shevchenko's poems created during his exile in Orsk and Orenburg (1847–1850). Due to its compact size, it is often called the "bootleg book" (zakhaliavna knyzhka), as the poet hid it inside his boot-top.
This version was released by the "Naukova Dumka" publishing house (Kyiv) in the USSR as a popular facsimile for the 170th anniversary of the poet's birth. It measures 10.5 x 3 x 3 cm.
The book completely mimics Shevchenko’s handwriting, the original paper, and the actual size of the manuscript.
