Description (English)

Circulation coin of the Kingdom of Bulgaria with a face value of 10 leva, minted in 1943 during the reign of Tsar Boris III.

·        Year of minting: 1943

·        Denomination: 10 leva

·        Metal: Zinc (Zn)

·        Diameter: 24.0 mm

·        Weight: 5.0 g

·        Edge: Smooth

The reverse of the coin depicts the famous Madara Rider—a UNESCO World Heritage site—trampling a lion, along with the name and year of death of the Bulgarian Khan Krum the Fearsome (814 AD). Due to metal shortages during World War II, the coin was minted from zinc, making its preservation in this condition a rare find for collectors.

Condition:

XF (Extremely Fine). For a zinc coin, the state of preservation is magnificent. It features a high, sharp relief, minimal traces of circulation, and a smooth matte mint luster. There are no signs of deep corrosion, pitting, or "zinc pest". All details of the wreath, lettering, and the rider's figure are perfectly legible.
